Speech Day 2017

On 16th June we held our third annual Speech Day to celebrate the end of the school year.
Wednesday, July 19, 2017

This year's Speech Day took place in the Grand Ballroom at the Novotel Hotel in Yangon. The children looked exceptionally smart as they entered the ballroom, who were shortly followed by their parents. Everyone was welcomed with musical accompaniment by Ji Soo Jang who played superbly on the piano.

Maia Harrison (Year 8) first addressed the audience with her highlights from the year. The school band then turned the volume up with a fantastically passionate performance of “Seven Nation Army,” which certainly evoked everyone.

The day then got even better with prizes and fantastic performances from the school choir and Ada Spiess. We were also very honoured to welcome Mr Paul Guerin OBE, who delivered a thought provoking and heartfelt speech about overcoming challenges and the importance of resilience. Special mention goes to his recent OBE as ‘Star Citizen for adults’.

Matthew Dove delivered the final vote of thanks and wrapped up another fantastic year at The British School Yangon. Congratulations to all those children who received prizes and took part in the performances.

We hope you all have a wonderful summer and look forward to welcoming everyone back in the new academic year.
