Tuesday, April 17, 2018

Mr Paul Holyome will become the permanent Principal of The British School Yangon (BSY) in August 2018, replacing Founding Principal, Adam Johnson, who is leaving due to personal reasons.

Paul is a highly qualified and experienced school leader who joins us from his role as Principal at The British Vietnamese International School (BVIS) in Ho Chi Minh City, which is another member of the Nord Anglia Education family of schools. During his time there he led the school to become one of the most successful, bilingual schools in the city.

Paul began his teaching career in England working in a variety of schools before developing his career overseas. He was Headteacher at Swanmore Middle School and Vice Principal of Ryde Academy both on the Isle of Wight. Paul was awarded a National Professional Qualification for Headship in 2007.

Paul said “I am thrilled to be joining BSY as the new Principal in August. I am already working closely with Adam and the Senior Leadership Team to ensure a smooth handover and to get to know the BSY community. With the new campus and Year 10 opening in August, it is an exciting time for the school and I’m looking forward to leading the next chapter.”

Shaun Williams, Regional Managing Director, Southeast Asia, said “Paul is dedicated to providing students with opportunities that make the most of their abilities. He strives to ensure the best possible holistic learning experience by creating a culture of innovation and initiative based on respect, integrity and cultural understanding. We believe that this, together with his strong track record as Principal within the Southeast Asia region, makes him an excellent choice to develop BSY as the school moves to its new campus and begins the next phase of its journey.”

We hope you will join us in congratulating Paul and wishing him a warm welcome.
