Kuala Lumpur Swim Tour British School Yangon Swim Team go to Kuala Lumpur

BSY has recently embarked on its first ever overseas sports trip. On the weekend from the 9th to 11th of March, BSY took a team of swimmers to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The swimmers had been training extremely hard in anticipation of this tour, competing locally and seeking their own personal improvement. The team comprised of 37 swimmers ranging from Years 3 to 9.

The hosts were The British International School of Kuala Lumpur, one of our sister schools. Also taking part in the swimming gala was another sister school, The King's School Manila. The gala was a "head to head" format, where each swimmer swam individual races in all four strokes and a relay.

By all accounts it was a wonderful event which allowed BSY swimmers to gain valuable experience in competing. The outstanding performers for the day were Matthew Dove, Thein Wai Phyo, Sophia Taggart and Aung Sitt Paing, who all won individual races. Many of the other swimmers gained 2nd place and it was a real team effort both in terms of achievement and support.

Another huge positive taken from the weekend was the level of parental support. Not only was there a large contingent of travelling parents, but they were superb in their support, making lots of noise, wearing matching t-shirts and waving homemade banners to cheer the swimmers on. It was a wonderful display from our extended swimming community and thank you to the teachers and coaches who looked after our students over the course of the weekend.

Well done to all on a fantastic tour and year of swimming.
